EMPYRION

Before there was Eirlandia . . . before there was Elfael . . .before there was Albion . . . there was Empyrion.

Originally published in paperback, EMPYRION is a duology which tells the story of Orion Treet: traveller, debt-dodger, itinerant critic, and writer of history books nobody buys. Kidnapped and rushed to a meeting with the world's richest man, Treet is astounded to be invited to accompany a top-secret mission. His job? To observe and document an extra-terrestrial colony on a newly discovered planet:  a dystopian world where very little is as it seems, and no one can be trusted.

This classic SF adventure is now available in hardback in a new Enhanced Edition which includes material drawn from Stephen's personal archives: maps, sketches, rough draft pages, and more. The Empyrion novels are a most captivating accomplishment of storytelling and adventure; among the best there is in science fiction.

Book I: The Search for Fierra

Eight million dollars for a special assignment, to report on the new colony of Empyrion, ten light-years from earth. How could Orion Treet refuse? But why had Cynetics Chariman Neviss gone to such lengths to track him down? There was little time to think. Within the hour Treet was on board the transport, hurtling through space with a handful of oddly-assorted companions. What they saw, streaking through the atmosphere, was a turquoise world, blue-green with vegetation, water and sky. A free and perfect world - or so it seemed. How could Treet know what lay ahead?
